un lieu authentique et charmant perche sur l arrete d une colline verdoyante, le luxe discret des details bien penses, d une decoration respectueuse de la region et de la nature. Nous avons passe 10 jours en famille dans un confort agreable, entre le jardin, la vue, les arbres, les oiseaux, la piscine a l eau de mer,... les odeurs du thym et du laurier. Un petit paradis pour se ressourcer. Nous avions un bebe de 8 mois, tout etait fourni pour un sejour au top pour toute la famille. Les repars prepares par ailsa sont delicieux, les legumes locaux, les parfums et les saveurs, tout y est!
Je recommende vivement ce lieu comme une base afin de visiter la toscane environnante!

My wife and I spent a wonderful week at Col di Lavacchio in September 2014 with a guided hiking group. The hiking led by Lindsay Cannon, a superb and fun guide, was exciting and challenging. One of the most challenging aspects of the hikes was simply leaving the gorgeous grounds of Col di Lavacchio, a restored farm in rural Tuscany. Jamie and Ailsa Reynolds, the owner/hosts, were a delight. They have decorated their home and the villa with great imagination and taste. Their organic farm on the grounds is where they grow a good deal of the food they prepare. Ailsa is a gourmet chef, and the meals she produces are delicious, imaginative, healthy, and beautifully presented. It is worth a trip to Col di Lavacchio for the food alone. There are no en suite bathrooms; you share an impeccably clean bathroom with one other room. The views from the villa and throughout the grounds are breathtaking. Both Jamie and Ailsa are enthusiastic and fun hosts. Lucca, a beautiful walled city, is a short train ride away. I don't think we have ever had such wonderful rustic lodgings accompanied by equally wonderful hosts, hikes, and food.

Came to Lavacchio on a couples holiday mid April and it was an absolute delight! Beautiful walks followed by delicious homemade pizzas overlooking the mountains. Jamie & Ailsa the hosts are so wonderful and committed to making sure everyone has a great time. They also cook up the most delectable dinners which cater to all preferences. ||Lavacchio has something for all. whether you're after adventure or pure relaxation you will find it here! Could not recommend this place enough. I will be back ASAP!!

Came as part of a one-week Pilates trip. Setting is spectacular - you are on a hill top with beautiful views over the valley, and surrounded by other hill top vistas. Their gardens/orchards are abundant with wildlife. The large pool by the farmhouse is a sanctuary surrounded by a bounty of lavender plantings. Interiors also beautiful. Super-comfy beds, lovely furniture, walls hung with interesting art and textiles. You will feel like you are staying in a great relatives beautiful home. So much love and attention has gone into creating such a special place. Food also magnificent. Aisla's cooking is inspired - super tasty, interesting, creative. I loved her home made marmalade at breakfast, amazing black garlic sauce on roasted aubergine, delicious green salads, shortbread cookies .. I could go on and on. Every meal a total pleasure. Jamie is so welcoming and entertaining and helpful. A perfect host. Highly recommend.

I loved the chicken salad (moist chicken, fennel and herbs in a light creamy orange dressing), her home made marmalade at breakfast, amazing black garlic sauce on roasted aubergine starter, the wood-fired chicken and rib BBQ dinner, delicious green salads, shortbread cookies, passionfruit muffins .. I could go on and on. Every meal a total pleasure. Jamie is so welcoming and entertaining and helpful. A perfect host. They're a very interesting couple and you can see the love and attention that has gone into creating such a special place. You feel like you are staying at some great relatives beautiful home and abundant garden. Highly recommend.

Wow - this place is ab-so-lutely stunning. From sunrise to sunset, I just couldn't get enough from looking at the views from the garden and the guesthouse (La Fattoria). The guesthouse is really cosy and very well equiped. There's multiple spots around it where you can sit and enjoy the awesome views. There's a couple really beautiful hikes starting practically right next to the garden. The hosts are great as well - both Jamie and Ailsa are lovely: kind, professional and always open for a good conversation. They know the area inside out and can take you on countless hikes in the surroundings. Ailsa's cooking is out of this world!

I'll definetely come back when I'm in the area!

Wild Tuscany Walking – September 2018||||A Five Star delight *||||Wow! We thought we were going for a gentle stretch in Tuscany and what we encountered was limestone ridges and soaring peaks. The walks involved steep ascents to the summits of the Apuane Alps, pockmarked with white marble quarries, and more gentle climbs to the high ridge line of the Apennines. Our guide Stefano was a font of knowledge on the history and the culture of the area and brimmed with enthusiasm for this little slice of Italian heaven. Our stay at Lavacchio was wonderfully comfortable, the house tastefully decorated and the pool a welcome temptation after a hot day in the hills. The highlight throughout the week was the food, much of it grown on the premises. From the vibrant breakfast eaten on the terrace to the surprise lunch hamper to the sumptuous dinners, we were spoiled with fabulously fresh flavours. A distant dream now? I think we'll return to sample their other walking holidays.
